Rimmel Fix and Perfect Pro Primer

Good evening all, back again with a review at long last! This time around for the Rimmel Fix and Perfect Pro Primer. I was never one for primers in the past, I must admit I really didn't see the point in them. However, I've seen the error of my ways and know that this is one of those steps that you don't realise the value of until you stop doing it. Primers prepare your skin for the application of makeup and smooth out the surface of the skin. So essentially, the first step to flawless foundation. Sign me up!

I've not tried many primers but none have made the impression on me quite like the Laura Mercier primer although due to the high price tag I've been unable to bring myself to repurchase. That being said, I'm still looking out for a good high-street product. Unfortunately, I don't think I've found it in the Rimmel Fix and Perfect Pro Primer. It claims to smooth, resurface, brighten, matte and protect the skin but I'm just not convinced.

I do feel that it effectively mattifies the skin but in doing so, makes my usual Estee Lauder foundation harder to apply and blend. It also gives it a stickier feel if a primer can do such a thing. I want to wear my foundation all day without fear of transferring it to everyone I touch. And believe me, I'm a hugger so that is a problem! But this doesn't prolong my foundation and if anything, gets oilier faster than usual. And whilst I also agree with the claims of smoothing and resurfacing, it doesn't brighten or protect in any way I can see.

So fir me it's not a very promising product but at £6.99 not much can be expected! I'm not hating this by any means, but I won't be re-buying it either. I hope this review has been helpful and if you want top try it for yourself, it's on sale here at Superdrug. Lots of love,
Laura.

Get your feet festival ready!

Good Afternoon all, back again with a post I've been meaning to do forever. With winter finally behind us (can I hear a hallelujah), It's time to get our minds on the festival season. One thing that always makes an appearance on those spring festival days is the flip flop. If the thought of donning them is enough to send you running for the hills, this post is for you. So for all those feet that have been neglected over winter, your makeover is here!

The main issues that plaque unkempt feet are dry, cracked heels, rough skin, fungal nail infections, discoloured nails and even athletes foot. These are all common foot issues that need addressing before we want to bare them to the public. But fear not, you don't have to spend a huge amount of money on pedicures or the like to feel like you can redeem your toes. Fear not and read on...

One of the many problems that can arise over winter is dry, cracked skin. The only remedy I even think of using now is my Scholl Velvet Smooth Pedi Electric Hard Skin remover which is my absolute, cannot live without, go-to product. I've already written an extensive review on it here, but for those of you who didn't see it, it has an electric buffer that takes away dry skin easily and painlessly. It's a far quicker and easier method than manually using a buffer and you notice the results immediately.

Following the removal of all that dry skin, we need to ensure that the dryness doesn't re-appear. My advice is to apply Johnsons Baby Oil all over the feet and then put on cotton socks before bed. If you do this every night (or every other night), you will notice that not only will your feet look nicer, but they'll feel a great deal smoother too.

And finally, something I know that none of us like to admit, is the condition of our nails. Nail polish makes it easy for us to ignore potential fungal nail infections. Wearing of plastic shoes has made the feet a lovely home for fungal nail infections and many of us will have an infection we aren't even aware about. But, If like me you don't even want to risk getting one before summer, you can use these at home remedies to keep them looking clean and healthy.

Method 1: Soak your nails in one part apple cider vinegar and one part water. Do this daily for around two weeks and you will notice the fungal nail infection disappear. This works because apple cider vinegar is known to kill bacteria and fungi due to it's slightly acidic nature.

Method 2: Mix one part white vinegar and two parts of water. It helps if the water is luke warm. Repeat this process for 10-15 minutes twice daily until the infection is gone. White vinegar is perfect as it fights the fungus whilst also maintaining pH balance.

Method 3: Rub tea tree oil onto a cotton wool pad and apply to the nails. Leave this on for around 15-20 minutes and then wash off. Follow the oil with a small amount of baking soda on an old toothbrush and gently scrub the nails. This has the dual purpose of clearing the nail of infection and exfoliation.

There are many products on the shelves that claim to rid you of fungal nail infections but my research shows that many are either very expensive or simply do not work. These at home remedies are far cheaper and work just as well.

Finally, the fun part of prepping your feet. Once you have rid your feet of dry skin and any lingering nail infections, you can now paint your nails to really make them pretty. My advice is light summery colours such as Daisy Trail or Hippy Chic by Rita Ora (for Rimmel). Or if you want something longer lasting (and don't we all) try a shellac nail treatment. They last around 3-4 weeks and usually cost around £15-£20 depending on where you go. I've recently purchased my own shellac kit so I have been doing my own.

So there you have it, my ultimate 'Feet Prep' Guide. Once you feel good about your feet, no pair of flip flops will ever scare you again. Plus, I always love a good pamper session of yours truly. Until next time my lovelies!

Spring Lust List

Hello my loves, I am so sorry it has been so long. My life is so hectic at the minute, I don't know what's up and what's down. That being said, things only seem to be getting busier, so I've been adopting the 'quality over quantity' method for my lovely little blog. You haven't missed much as like usual, I'm drooling over clothes. This time, I've picked a wierd selection of pieces from office to festival.

First up is this Blue paisley print tunic dress from New Look (where else) that would look gorgeous either with tights for when there's a nip in the air, or bare leg for a festival or the like. It's pieces like these that you end up wearing a million different ways. Working hard for a mere £22.99.

Chiffon and me go together like nutella and toast and here we have yet another perfect example with this Mink chiffon sleeveless shirt. I am all over nude at the moment as I have recently bought a camel coat and they go together beautifully. You could wear this casually with jeans or with your work trousers for a day in the office.

Again, earthy tones are back in and these Khaki Skinny Jeans are another addition to my wish list. I think wearing khaki and a white chiffon shirt is the perfect spring outfit. Gold accessories go down a treat too!

Festivals are back in force and the tribal trends are back with vengeance. This little Black Embroidered strappy playsuit is the perfect little number. I can't stop looking at it and for only £22.99 it's an affordable addition to your wardrobe.

So there we have it my loves, yet another lust list. I do intend to do some makeup reviews soon as it has been far too long and I have an ever building list of products to review. Some are quite the find so stay tuned! Until next time,
Laura.

What does success mean to you?

Hello all, my my it has been a while! My apologies gorgeous readers, if you're still there! Last month I decided to take an unofficial break from blogging. To be quite honest with you lovely readers, I lacked motivation to blog when I felt like I wasn't being fulfilled in life. Since then, I've come to no new epiphany in terms of where I'm going to be this time next year, although I do feel a little step closer. It's brought on an onslaught of questions, all bringing me back to the main point, what is success to me?

Let me start by saying that success is not going to mean the same thing to everyone. For some, it may be having a lot of money to spend and to live luxuriously. That may be the complete opposite to others who feel that success to them is building a big, happy family. For me, I believe it's a combination of the two. I've seen the majority of people in my life be unsatisfied with the jobs they are currently doing. I don't dislike my current job by any means, but I know that it's not one I want to be doing for my whole life, it's just not for me. Success to me is being in a job that makes you happy, and if it makes you a lot of money whilst doing it then added bonus. And that is what I've been focusing on the past month, finding out what that successful job looks like.

Being successful, once you've established what that means, just needs drive and determination to get there. Everything, at one point was thought impossible until someone did it. That is the mindset you need to find yourself in every day. The people around us have a great deal of influence on how much we feel we are able to achieve and so keeping positive people around us is essential. I've often said that you wont regret removing negative toxic people from your life.

Finding out what you want is half of the battle. To do so you must first look at your strengths. What are you good at? Next, what is the thing you love to do each day, paid or unpaid. Is it playing with makeup (I know I do) or designing something on your computer? For at the heart of what makes us tick is our ideal career. So, for me, I'm still figuring it out but I know that once I have, I'll be on the path to making my future a successful one.

I hope you've liked my ramblings, I just felt it was something that is a very current issue, what with so many graduates unemployed or in a job they don't like. I'm at home today with toothache (lame I know) so some possitivity has done me some good. What does success mean to you? Let me know in the comments below!
Laura.
