The Red Dress

Good evening all! I am feeling happy (yet slightly ill) today as it is the first of February. There's something depressing about January and I'm not sure if it's the weather or something else. For me, January was a big month (Diary post coming soon) and honestly I'm glad to see that back of it. February however, brings happier times. Valentines day is coming up and I love nothing more than a good excuse to treat the lovely boyfriend. Plus, after a lovely valentines day, we have pancake day, woohoo!

For me, V day is the perfect time to get dressed up and feel a million dollars. Nothing says $$$ quite like a red dress and so I've thrown together all my favourite Red dresses to inspire us in time for V day. I'll also be doing a dress selection in another post so keep your eyes peeled!

These red dresses sported by Blake Lively and Rhianna look astonishing. B is my absolute girl crush and one of the main reasons I adore Gossip Girl. This outfit is no exception and she looks flawless. Plus, it's this picture that began my love affair with the plaited pony hairstyle. Meanwhile, RiRi shows she has some serious confidence by wearing this daring dress and looks absolute perfection.

If there's two things I love in this world it's Elie Saab and chiffon. There's just something so elegant about the way chiffon moves that makes it the perfect material for a red dress. I love the dress on the far right as it's off the shoulder design looks feminine and girly all in one.

I actually think that if I could get away with wearing Taylor Swift's dress to a dinner for two, I absolutely would. I think she looks like an absolute goddess. My only regret is that I'll probably never have an excuse to wear a dress as pretty as this one. Staring at it will have to do, *sigh*.

Aren't they just to die for! I think that practicality dictates that I'll be wearing something a little less OTT on the big day, but it's safe to say that I'm set on red. It's almost a mandatory uniform by this point. Following all the perving on dresses, It's time for some general V day pictures to leave you feeling all gooey!

And so I must bid you adieu! In the pipeline will be a V day inspired makeup look, a diary post and as mentioned earlier, a dress selection by yours truly. As of this moment I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing so I'll have to be sure to find out so I can dress acordingly. But lets be honest, any excuse to delight in outfit planning is fine with me! Spring time Outfit Inspiration

 Good afternoon beauties! Just a quick post from me today. I think all of us are eyeing up our Christmas money and looking at what it can buy us. I always have a habit of spending my money before the spring fashion floods the stores. Not this year! I've done my research and made myself a list of springtime fashion wants (post perhaps to come) and am eagerly awaiting my time to buy.

Above I've included some lovely photography of spring time fashion to give outfit and style ideas. My absolute favourite being the first image, simple yet stylish and I love it. I also love the fishtail plait that a girl is sporting in image three, my hair isn't quite this long yet but it's getting there. I'm hoping to grow it out for this year! I also love the wavy hair look for spring, it's so relaxed yet looks amazing. To achieve simple easy waves I just plait my hair the night before, dampen my hands and run over the plaits and sleep in it. I may also start doing 'Hair how to' posts, one of the many ideas I have for you lovely lot! As always, it's been a pleasure!

What to buy your Boyfriend this Christmas

So I think every girl who has a boyfriend (or a brother etc) has had difficulty buying the boy in question Christmas gifts. My boyfriends birthday is in October, so I have to think up two lots of gifts within a short period of time so I can definitely say I have drawn up blank once or twice. On some occasions, inspirations have come to me and so far, I've always been pleased with what I have brought. I do see many bloggers doing these posts and they do give great gift ideas, not just for the boyfriends. Brothers, Dads and boys who are just friends count too!

1. World War Z DVD £10.00
This film is fantastic, and I don't usually like zombie themed films. That being said, I think most boys will like it, although it does depend on their taste of course. It's currently in stock in all good DVD selling retailers (I recommend Amazon as it comes with free delivery here) and is a good stocking filler to bring up the numbers.

2. Family Guy 'Victory Will Be Mine' Boxers, Matalan, £6.00
I really think boxers are a no brainer and even though they can be a cheesy, go to present for pretty much anyone, you can make sure you're getting something a bit different like these family guy themed ones. Matalan have a great range, good quality and very reasonable in terms of price. Again, a great stocking filler.

3. Budweiser multipack, Price varies
If the boy you're buying for is a student, while you probably wont be helping their livers, you will be helping their wallets. Alcohol is one of those things that I hate paying for (I do of course) but it pains me to spend £12 on a bottle of wine when I know it could be spent on things like makeup (typical girl). That's why things like these make such good present as you know, providing they like the alcohol you buy them, it will always be used and appreciated.

4. Burgundy & Navy Hooded Bomber Jacket, Burton, £45.00
Now I understand that clothes are a very personal thing but I've included this as it's what I have brought for my boyfriend this Christmas and I think Burton have a great selection to check out. Don't worry, I haven't spoilt the surprise as he already knows about this because I made him try it on. If you think this is something your boyfriend will like, you can find it on the Burton website here, although when I purchased it, it had been reduced to £40 in store.

5. Now you see me DVD, £9.99
This is one of the many films to come out this year and is actually fantastic, hence why it's here. It's also a it's a film you can watch with your significant other that you'll also enjoy. Win Win. For only £9.99 and with free delivery (From Amazon, here) there really isn't any reason not to buy it.

6. Burgundy 'Easy Tipped' Polo shirt, Matalan, £12.00
Matalan have really been pulling out the stops as far as men's clothes are concerned. They have a really nice collection of jumpers that have the 'on trend' aztec and Christmas prints. For my boyfriends birthday, I purchased him a navy one with shoulder patterns (I'm not describing it very well but it really is nice) and he loved it and has been wearing it non stop. This is a plain polo that there isn't really anything to dislike so it's a good go to item if you know they have worn polos/burgundy before, plus its only £12.00 and can be found here.

7. 'Easy Printed' Polo Shirt, Matalan, £12.00
As with the polo shirt mentioned above, the same applies. It's good quality and doesn't cost you an arm and a leg like other shops might. This one I purchased has small burgundy diamonds on it. Again, I am really not advertising this well but it really is a lovely polo shirt to pop in their gift bag this Christmas. I would provide the link as the polo is on their website but currently isn't working so you may have to go in store if you think it's something you would like to buy.

So these are my current 'go to' gift purchases for boys! I hope they can give you some inspiration if you're stuck and most of all, remember that Christmas is about the people and the memories, not just the gifts! And with that cheesy line, I will bid you adieu'

OOTN / MOTN// Halloween as Little Red Riding Hood

 

 

 HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I'm currently snuggled up in my armchair hibernating from the horrible wind outside. So I thought, what better time to do my first ever outfit of the night (OOTN) and makeup of the night (MOTN) post. I absolutely LOVE to dress up and Halloween provides the perfect excuse. I'd been thinking about what to dress up as for quite a while and had been scrolling through lots of blog posts getting ideas. Then I saw a post (here) talking about little red riding hood and I knew I had to do it.This costume was actually being sold by a lot of sellers on Ebay for £25.00 and then one lovely seller put this dress on for just £8.00 so I snapped it up. I also purchased some over the knee white socks to give a girly look to the costume. They also kept me warm as it is getting colder and they were the warmer alternative to braving bare legs!

Me and my university flatmates  went out to clubs dressed as Goku (A Character from dragonball Z shown in the photo above), two zombies (one in the photo above), a gothic doll, a man with half a face and then myself as little red riding hood. We made quite the sight. Some people's costumes were incredible, one girl had used what I assume was liquid latex and painted a zip ripping open her skin.I actually love seeing everyone's ideas and that people have made an effort.

 Makeup: Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid, 2 True False Eyelashes, MUA Undressed eyeshadow palate (Shades 1,3,5 and 11), Miss Sporty Studio Lash liquid eyeliner and Miss Sporty Red Lipstick shade Dream 055.

I wanted my eye makeup to be reasonably simple because I think this costume was all about red lips. I had shade one of the Undressed eyeshadow palate on the insides of my eyes, Shade 3 lining my lid crease and shade 5 darkening the outermost corner of my eyes. Shade 11 was used to line my eyelash line so that the eyeliner didn't have a harsh line. Overall, I really liked it! I can't wait until next time I can dress up again so I have a project to be getting involved in.

Haul// New Look and Dorothy Perkins

Hello all, this is my first ever haul post, woohoo! I have done so many shopping trips where I have brought back the whole store and never thought to do a post about it. Better late than never I suppose! Before I say anything about my little beauties, you will probably notice that most of my haul posts from now on will be 'New Look' this an 'New Look' that. I absolutely love the place, it's not too expensive and is always in stock with the most current trends but with a twist. So without further adeu...

 

New Look Burgundy Oversized Jumper £19.99

Jumpers are my absolute favourite thing to purchase. I love winter for the fashion of big jumpers, cute boots and hats that are cuter still. That being said, it comes as no surprise that I've brought another one. I already own one very similar to this, though the fit of this one is so much nicer. It is fitted on the sleeves and then has a comfortable, baggy fit to the body. I also like the fact that it is that little bit longer. Plus when I tried it on under my parka, it looked amazing. You would be surprised how well burgandy an khaki go together.

 

New Look Leather Look Sleeve Midi (left) £11.00 and New Look Black Midi (Right) £6.00

  The selection of dresses in New Look at the moment are to die for! The Leather-look sleeve midi dress (above left) was reduced from £19.99 to just £11.00 and I had to have it. I go out dancing to clubs a lot at university so I am forever looking for nice outfits. This one is nice and simple so I thought I could team it with an aztec necklace (see below) and some black boot heels. Add some bright lippy and a grundgy going out outfit! I've also brought some over-sized black elastic headbands (though I forgot to include them, doh) that I think will look great worn with my hair long and curly with this dress.

The plain black midi was only £6.00 and I couldn't leave it. It is the sort of staple that you can wear in any season. So just on it's own in summer or in winter with tights and a jumper thrown over, it is really so versatile. I have also noticed that crop  argyle knit jumpers are coming in this season. Over this sort of dress is one of the many ways they can be worn.

I was at the till buying the items I've shown you above when I saw this neon green aztec necklace. Aztec necklaces are really in fashion at the minute and I love them. I have so many outfits that need brightining up with some statement jewelery and so when I saw the bright neon green on this one, I had to have it. The fact that it had been reduced to only £3.00 was just a bonus.

Dorothy Perkins has a fantastic selection of jewelery and this one was no exception. I liked how this necklace was a little different and I loved that the earrings were included. So many shops make you pay extra for matching earrings so this was a nice touch. I went to the till with the intention of paying £10.00 for this beauty but when I got there, It came up on the till as £1.50 and had gone into the sale. How lucky am I!?

Wish List// This seasons must have dress

Good afternoon lovelies! I am in a miserable mood as I have just had to say goodbye to my boyfriend for yet another time (we do long distance) and to make matters worse, I finally tracked down a dress I've been after only to find out it's sold out.

So I mentioned previously that my 21st birthday is coming up and I spotted an absolutely perfect dress, worn by Lucy Mecklenburgh in one of 'The Only Way is Vegas' episodes. I instantly fell in love with it and knew I had to make it mine. After searching for what feels like forever, I tracked it down on a website called Nelly (You can have a look yourself here) as the Jemima dress only to discover that it was sold out.

Anyway, just to tease and torture myself a little more, I thought I'd include some pictures of it so you can join me in my dissapointment.I will not give up and will make this beauty mine one day.

Going Out// Cut out Dresses

Hello all! I've been doing my usual and obsessively online shopping. So the boyfriend recently told me that for my birthday, he's intending to take me on a shopping spree (Yipeee!) and has got me thinking about what I want most in my wardrobe. As I'm at university, I go out to clubs a lot and I'm always looking for a nice outfit. For me, the getting ready bit is my favorite part. As my birthday isn't until the 18th December, I thought I'd have a look round now to see what's in fashion.

Across every website I viewed (and I looked at a fair few believe me) cut out dresses seemed to be the in thing. So as it's Autumn/Winter time, I thought I would pick out my top five favorites that I think are perfect for this seasons partying!

River Island £20.00 (Both)

I'll start with my favorite of the selection. Red is one of my favorite colours and I own far too many red dresses already! This one is actually backless which I think is quite unusual for highstreet dresses. I usually think of River Island as being quite expensive (for the highstreet) and so I actually think these little beauties are a bargain for just £20.00. I'm quite confident the red little cutie will be joining my wardrobe sometime soon, although I'm going to have to do some research on what bra you wear with it. Teal is also a very current colour on clothes this season and looks great on this style of dress. Not sure why the image is making the dress look like a textured material, as far as I'm aware, the materials just plain.

The select dress is only £12.00! Though the photo's don't show it, this dress is actually textured which is not only more flattering in my opinion, but also makes it look more expensive. The berry colour is also really current and if you team it with Rimmel As You Want Victoria (Shade 360) lipstick, it's a gorgeous going out look. I'm not usually a fan of all black dresses as I think they can sometimes wash you out but I think this one is so cool and futuristic looking! It's £30.00, so still reasonable but on the higher price end of this selection. If you're brave enough to flash a bit of skin this is the dress for you. I haven't really visited Jane Norman or the website much for clothes, but the selection of dresses is really quite good so if you have time to, I would definitely check them out. 

Topshop £45.00 (Right) New Look £22.99 (left)

As I mentioned earlier, Teal is a colour that seems to be everywhere this Autumn so I've included another teal dress. When I saw the other teal dress I liked it, and then I saw this one and I LOVE it. The futuristic looking back was such a surprise! It looks quite plain from the front, I thought about adding a chunky gold Aztec necklace to spice it up a bit. Then I saw the back and thought it looks amazing, and not anything I've seen anywhere else. For £22.99, New Look has got a winner, one i'll be asking for my birthday!

When Topshop dresses are at this price, as a student I begin to loose interest. But I can't stop looking at this one. I showed a friend and she thought it was absolutely hideous. I think it's like Marmite, you either love it or you hate it. I decided to include this as the other dresses are plain (in that they are block colours.) Block colours do tend to carry from season to season and stay in fashion a little longer. That being said, Christmas time is the time for glitz and glamour and I think you can get away with this one. Paired with some statement gold jewelry I think this would be a really cool outfit. Still not sure of the price, but for a new years outfit with something a little different, you might be willing to invest.
