A month in pictures

Hello lovely readers, first off, I'd like to apologize (never a good start I know). I haven't blogged in what feels like ages (like ten whole days) so I thought I'd do a 'Month in pictures' post to let you know what I've been up to and why I haven't been blogging.

So as you probably know, I'm currently studying for a Marine and Freshwater Biology Degree at Aberystwyth unversity. I'm in my third year and the amount of work I have to do at the minute IS COMPLETELY INSANE! While I am really happy with where my life is right now, I have never been so busy. I've got my dissertation studying the circadian rhythms of Carcinus maenas using PCR and methods that require a LOT of lab work (sigh) so I am constantly in and out of the lab. Luckily, one of my best mates is doing a very similar project and is often in the lab with me. Because of us being together, lab work has actually been hilarious most the time and not as mundane as it sounds. That being said, there's still a lot of hard work involved and activities that are very time consuming.

On top of this dissertation lab work and write up, I'm also studying for three modules which have set essays due in around the same time. I have spent five days trying to figure out the statistical analysis for one of them, it is hell believe me. Despite all this negativity, I am actually quite happy. There's still things going on of course (when is there not) but I'm finding healthy ways to deal with them. I've also been attending 21st birthdays and going out when the relatives of flatmates visit. I even managed a trip to Borth animalarium where I spend a good half hour feeding grapes to lemurs. It was sunny and actually a really lovely day, despite being horribly hungover from the night before.

So to summarize a moaning  post, I'm a busy bee but I'm a happy one. I know all of this hard work is temporary and that I am going to miss university so much when I've left. My flat and I have made a list of things we have to do before we leave and have been gradually ticking things off. I've also got a barbecue on the beach followed by a house party with all of my course to celebrate our dissertation hand in dates. The thing about being so busy is that I have been spending loads of time with students on my course and they are all SO lovely, I swear I'm laughing around them constantly. So I am hopeful for the future and while I can't promise that I'll be blogging as regularly, I haven't forgot about you!

What is everyone else getting up to? I hope you're not as busy as me, thanks for reading as always it's been a pleasure!
